Brian Kingham, Chairman
With a reputation for entering underperforming markets and focussing on solid execution, Brian Kingham has founded a number of successful businesses; in the security sector Reliance Security Group plc, the market leader employing more than 13,000 people in manpower and electronic surveillance; in engineering, Norland Managed Services Ltd.
Reliance Security opened his eyes to the need to deliver pragmatic and business sensitive security solutions across the board, and in 2014 in a shift to technology he created Reliance Cyber Science. He invests globally in entrepreneurial technology businesses, understanding the need to underpin solid services through well engineered technology. He is a director of the UCL Institute of Security and Crime Science.
Justin Walker, Deputy Chairman
Justin was responsible for leading and integrating Lockheed Martin IS&GS UK/EU and then transferring the company into Leidos. Before joining Lockheed Martin, Justin had held key roles with Thales as VP Services for Land & Air Systems, VP Services for Thales UK and VP Air Operations & Managed Services.
He is recognised for the successful transformation and growth of services business. He also led the launch of Thales Alenia Space UK and held various other roles at Thales, including Vice President of Strategy, Business Development and Marketing where he managed joint ventures and partnerships, acquisitions and divestitures as well as delivered strategy implementation, transformational sales, growth and profit improvement, for about a 1/3 of Thales group over 4 years.
After a variety of marketing and technology roles with large plc’s Andy found his passion innovating world leading technology for high growth companies. He built eCommerce in the 90s, content management before most people realised they needed it, and email encryption before Wiki leaks and Snowdon became household names.
A serial founder, and veteran of multiple exits, the most recent was to global security provider Trend Micro where Andy spent 5 years as a director in the global innovation team and latterly as EMEA CTO and MD of the UK business. Today Andy works as an Investor and director in several high growth companies.
Throughout his career in technology Stephen Ball has been noted for his substantial experience with turnaround and strategic growth in both private and public sector businesses.
During his time as CEO at Lockheed Martin, Stephen advanced their organic growth and acquisition of people as well as increasing their compound annual sales growth whilst shaping strategic advisory Boards for key countries in International portfolios. Previously, Stephen had been CEO at HMGCC were he implemented an imaginative business plan, enhancing core technical capability and sharpening focus on cost control. Stephen is a member of Royal United Services Institute Advisory Council and is Honorary Doctor of Science.
Meurig Jones, Chief Operating Officer
Meurig joins Reliance acsn from HP Enterprise Services where he was General Manager for the Security Services Business for EMEA which enjoyed record growth under Meurig’s leadership. Previously Meurig was a leader in the success of specialist security provider Vistorm and previousy held senior leadership roles in Compaq and Hewlett Packard.
Having held many leadership roles in large Enterprise service providers, Meurig has a strong belief that customers’ Security requirements are best met by specialist service providers. Reliance acsn, as a specialist MSSP, have embarked on an ambitious investment programme and Meurig’s extensive technology and solutions experience will contribute a powerful added dimension.
Paul Winstanley, Advisory Board Member
Paul started his career as a research scientist in the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).
On the privatisation of the MoD research laboratories to QinetiQ Paul took on a wider technical leadership role and was later promoted to become QinetiQ’s youngest ever Technical Director.
Paul’s final role in QinetiQ was as the President and CEO of QinetiQ Inc. Paul decided to repatriate to the UK and create his own strategic development consultancy. Here Paul’s focus is on the creation of new business and value realization from market diversification in the defence and security sectors and internationally (UK, Europe and USA). Paul now combines advisory and executive operational roles, the combination of interests that underpinned his desire to form Alazen.
Lynne Gillon, Advisory Board Member
Lynne is an international business executive with diverse and extensive experience in the technology sector and a strong operational background from start-ups to large global organisations. She has a deep understanding of digital technology and brings comprehensive insights into cloud software and emerging technologies.
Lynne has held Senior Vice President and Director leadership roles, most recently at Oracle Corporation, and brings a successful record of opening up new markets, managing and implementing change, as well as developing partner networks to deliver growth and to facilitate innovation.
John Noble, Advisory Board Member
John Noble is an experienced senior leader with a strong track record for operational delivery and strategic business change, formerly the Director of Incident Management at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), where he led on nearly 800 major cyber incidents; This work has given him unrivalled experience in dealing with and understanding the causes of cyber issues. Prior to that, John spent four years at the British Embassy in Washington, USA.
During more than 40 years of government service, John has built collaborative, diverse and high performing teams and has excelled at creating effective partnerships.. For his work in creating effective partnerships in the run up to the London Olympics, he was awarded a CBE in 2012.
Victoria Baines, Advisory Board Member
Victoria Baines is Principal and Founder of Cartimandua Insight, and is a leading author and speaker in the field of cybersecurity. She regularly appears in major broadcast media as an authority on the misuse of emerging technologies.
Until 2017, Victoria was Facebook’s Trust & Safety Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Before this, Victoria led Strategy & Prevention at Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), and was responsible for the European Union’s cyber threat analysis. Victoria is a Visiting Associate of the Oxford Internet Institute, and a Visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University’s School of Computing.
Nick Jennings, Advisory Board Member
Professor Nick Jennings CB, FREng is Vice-Provost (Research) at Imperial College. He is responsible for promoting, supporting and facilitating the College’s research performance and for leading on the delivery of the Research Strategy. Nick also holds a chair in Artificial Intelligence in the Departments of Computing and Electrical and Electronic Engineering . Before joining Imperial, Nick was the Regius Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southampton (where he is still a Visiting Professor) and the UK Government’s Chief Scientific Advisor for National Security.
Professor Jennings is an internationally-recognized authority in the areas of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cybersecurity and agent-based computing.
Gert Van den Poel, Chief Technology Officer
During his 17 years of practical experience in Cyber Security, Gert had the opportunity to cover multiple domains and verticals that enables him to perform in multiple roles. As Product Director of Reliance acsn, he is responsible for service development and sales enablement.
Prior to his current role, he served as Verizon’s Subject Matter Expert in security analytics, SOC, and SCADA/ICS protection, and led a global team of Practice Leaders focused on designing and delivering threat management solutions. He is passionate about the fact that security solutions must become more business-aligned, focused, and cost-effective.
Tom Van den Eynde, Technical Director
Tom has more than 15 years of experience in Information Security. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to perform a variety of roles in the industry. He served as a leader in Verizon’s global security consulting organisation, was as a strategic security consultant and CISO. He is as subject matter expert in selling and delivering complex security solutions and managed security services.
He has both a strong engineering and business background.
Cheryl Tracey, Head of Finance
Cheryl gained her broad experience and a fearsome reputation for detailed accuracy at Time Inc UK (formally IPC Media Ltd), where she enjoyed a number of finance roles including Systems Accountant and Finance Manager. During her time at IPC, Cheryl acquired substantial systems experience through supporting Oracle Financials, involving development and implementation of accounting systems and procedures.
Cheryl has considerable experience of collaborating with business leaders to develop business insights for commercial decision-making. She is now responsible for the day to day running of the finance department, reporting and budgeting.
Robin Vann, Commercial Director
With over 25 years of experience in cloud, security and managed services, Rob is a successful strategic security leader who has solved cyber security challenges for customers globally across a broad spectrum of organisations, including large corporates, telcos, and government installations.
Rob developed his security experience working in Government, blue chip MSSP environments, and global vendors, and combines a successful track record in CNI defence, with a history of building innovative and unique cyber security start up business. He has a passion for developing, implementing and commercializing new ways for utilizing technology to solve organisations cyber security issues.
James Dyson, Head of Managed Security Services
James joins us with 20 years of experience in network, security and cloud environments combining a great operational background with a strong belief that it’s the people that make the organisation successful.
James built his skills as a network architect building banking solutions before moving to management and taking on a number of operational and transformational roles. He joins the team with a long history of transforming, building and running operational teams working with all sizes of business from startups through international MSPs. With teams from 20 to 200+ James has managed a huge range of customers from financial, government and corporate institutions through to international trading and retail.
Adam Fox-Edwards, Head of Professional Services
Following a successful career as an RAF Fighter Pilot, Adam has spent 20 years consulting in the private and public sectors. He is an experienced senior leader and his area of expertise is improving performance across all areas of business particularly those involving change through technology. He has led successful bids into the private and public sectors and been responsible for delivering major contracts across Defence, Health and Transport. He has rescued failing bids and projects and turned around under-performing contracts. He has worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM, Serco, Alliance Medical, Lockheed Martin and latterly Cadence Innova.
Keryth Mansfield, People Director
Keryth is a Chartered MCIPD HR Director with more than 17 years’ experience, an ICF accredited Coach. She has experience across the full HR spectrum with a key focus on developing and implementing people strategies that underpin strategic values and objectives of the organisation. Aligning the world of HR to the business needs, Keryth has successfully implemented cultural transformation and commercial improvements around complex organisational design projects in Retail, Ecommerce and ICT environments. She has a continuous drive to inspire, motivate and challenge leaders and organisations to deliver above their potential.
Chris Anderson, Sales non-exec
Chris is one of the most experienced member of the Reliance acsn team, joining acsn back in April 2005. This time forms just part of his 25 years of experience within the IT Security sector having previously setup up specialist teams delivering Consultancy, Security infrastructure and Managed Services with Keltec and before that at Digital Equipment Co (DEC).
Now in his role as sales non-exec, Chris builds on his experience developing and managing the majority of Reliance acsn’s major accounts which span most major industries, to bring context and expertise to the account team. During his first 10 years as Sales Director, Chris developed the team and established many of the lengthy relationships we enjoy with our clients and partners alike.
